Yes, screening is beneficial if:
it is accurate
the early detection results in better outcomes
it leads to an effective treatment
So, is it beneficial for me to know I am at high risk for developing Alzheimers in 20 years? Yes, if the risk is accurate and I can do something about it. No, if there is nothing I can do about it. Not really if I can do the same thing in 9.5 years. I may then have 10 more years of living with Alzheimers for no greater gain.
